Room Remote privacy policy
1 November 2026

Overview. Room Remote controls a television on the same Wi-Fi network. There is no account. The developer does not run a service that receives information from this app, and the app includes no analytics, advertising, or tracking.

Stored on this device. The app saves the pairing key the television gives this phone, and the fingerprint of the television’s security certificate, in the device’s protected credential store. It also saves the television’s name, last network address, hardware address (MAC), favourite apps, and touchpad speed in app preferences. Forget, in TV connection settings, deletes the saved pairing and certificate identity for that television. This information stays on the device. It is used only to reconnect to a television you have already paired and to remember settings you chose.

Local network. The app scans the local network to find a television and sends remote commands to it. Those commands include navigation, volume, text you type, and requests to open an app or a web address on the television. When you choose a photo or video, this phone temporarily serves that one file on the local network so the television can play it. The address is unguessable, the server stops when playback stops, and the file is not uploaded to the developer.

Photos and videos. You choose a single photo or video with the system picker. The app does not ask to browse your whole library, and it does not keep a copy after playback stops.

Web addresses. An address you enter is sent to the television, which loads it. A YouTube video address opens in the television’s YouTube app. This phone does not download those videos and does not send them to the developer.

What is not collected. Room Remote does not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, advertising identifier, or usage analytics. It does not sell or share personal information. It does not use third-party analytics or advertising services.

Children. The app can ask the television to open any web address, so it is not directed at children. The matching App Store age rating is 17+.

Removing data. The developer never receives a copy of the data above, so there is no remote copy to delete. Use Forget for each television to remove protected pairing credentials, then delete the app to remove its remaining preferences. On iOS, protected credentials can otherwise survive app deletion as part of normal Keychain behaviour.
